What is Medication-Assisted Treatment?

Medication-Assisted Treatment (also known as MAT) combines counseling and behavioral therapies along with the use of medication. MAT has proven to be extremely effective in the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD) by helping patients achieve sustainable recovery with a lower risk of relapse.

South Dayton Recovery & Addiction Services provides a combination of Medication Assisted Treatment, individual counseling services, group therapy, and social support services, as well as a focus on co-occurring disorders.

We follow an individualized approach in our treatment to facilitate each patient’s needs. For patients seeking drug treatment for opiate addiction, we typically prescribe buprenorphine or buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone). While we do not prescribe methadone at our clinic, we do help patients transition from methadone to one of the other less addictive MAT options.
